Our Story

Airspan Executive Airport is a dynamic, relatively young airport, situated at the foot of the beautifull, tranquill and relaxed Magaliesberg mountain range, approx. 16km south-east of Rustenburg, North West. (On the Modderfontein/Oorsaak road, Kroondal, Rustenburg. Close to Wigwam/Brigadoon estate).

Airspan Executive Airport was born from three Jabiru pilots’ love of flying and started out as a gravel landing strip on agricultural land.

Airspan Executive Airport expanded over the years.

Today Airspan Executive Airport is owned by two dedicated pilots. Airspan is now zoned and registered as a full airport and already has:

• a 900m tarred and lighted runway (in the process of being extended to over 1000m);
• three upsize helipads;
• a grass apron for twelve airplanes;
• avgas and jet fuel at very competitive pricing;
• a large venue, capable of accommodating up to 1000 guests, seated at tables;
• another unique, Concorde replica chapel/venue, capable of accommodating 300 guests, seated at tables;
• modern and sufficient ablution facilities for both venues;
• sufficient ablution facilities for thousands of outdoor-function guests;
• six unique, cargo airplane replica, en-suite luxury 7-star rooms;
• a licenced restaurant, with a fully qualified inhouse chef (Tuesdays – Sundays 07:00 – 15:00);
• a licenced, fully stocked, cash bar (with card facilities);
• an accredited private/commercial drone pilot traing centre.

Airspan Executive Airport is still expanding and is currently busy with:

• registering as an accredited pilot training centre / flight school (inclusive of night rating, instrument rating, private pilot and commercial pilot);
• developing the infra structure for 100 luxury, serviced, sectional title private hangers;
• developing the infra structure for 100 garage sized storage units;
• developing the infra structure for an inhouse Aviation Maintenance Officer (AMO);
• developing 10 further 4-star en-suite accommodation units for pilots, students and venue guests.

It is quite a magnificent sight to experience the many fly-ins, drive-ins, ride-ins, cycle-ins and walk-ins when it gets busy at Airspan Executive Airport!!!

Airspan allready hosts matric farewells, fund raisings, musical festivals, larger year end functions, birthday parties and weddings.

Airspan Executive Airport attemps to fullfill the evident growing need of a dynamic executive airport/training centre/venue/accommodation/restaurant/bar by and for the Rustenburg and surrounding communities.

Airspan Executive Airport is an ideal venue for larger size farewells, year end functions, weddings and other events. The runway and helipads enable an awesome opportunity for spectacular aviation entrances by CEO’s, farewell guests, brides, etc. Imagine having an airplane as a brides car!
